Wet Paint! Commercial Alley #4

finishing touches

Over time I’ve gradually given myself permission to depart from painting scenes “as they appear” towards “as they feel”. I believe it’s a matter of experience and self-trust. Does this visual give you the impression of the night sky spilling on to the alley? I’d be pleased if you saw that. That was the key “feeling” in this bright alleyway scene.

A rainy December afternoon gave me the idea. The puddles formed by the water in this alleyway take the herringbone shape of the bricks creating an escher-like formation between bricks and fluid.

The 4-color palette is limited to an intense scarlet, blue, yellow and magenta which I’ve used previously for the other paintings in the commercial alley series:

This scene ended up with intense amounts of color even by my standards!

This is 24W x 48H

It may take about 2 months for the paint to cure and be available for purchase.
