Wet Paint! Black-Eyed Susans #2
If I could sum up the feeling I try to convey in my art in a single word. That would be “ethereal”. I strive to make visuals made out of common colors yet somehow glow in the dark. I want the viewers to feel as if they’ve encountered some odd window looking into another dimension. A dimension which re-presents mundane moments with electric ethereal illumination.
You may or may not pick up that feeling from this particular piece. I havent shared this outside the newsletter or the blog yet. But personally I’m pretty jazzed about how this one came out. Which is remarkable because I’m perpetually dissatisfied at my own work.
Anyways. These ARE black eyed susans. In the snow. In the winter 2026. Alongside the headwaters of the Ammonoosuc river. I’ve grown to enjoy painting flowers. Yeah these are dead flowers, yet they reach to the sky creating beautiful contrast in such an odd yet natural display. Black eyed susans age beautifully as they wither into the fall and form balloon like shapes in the winter. So much from so little.
This particular painting is 30Wx40H and will become available on the site in 6-8 weeks once it cures. In the meantime I get to enjoy the view from the drying rack.
I’d keep all my paintings if I could. It’s bittersweet to sell and re-home them. But it’s fun to share a little magic with those that see it.
