Peter Weissbrod

Pete is from northern New Hampshire. Working out of Kittery Point. He was raised in a sign painting shop in the White Mountains. His time outdoors working as a forest ranger has influenced his subject matter and techniques.

His focus is on liminal spaces of recognizable local scenery using a minimal palette. The observer's invited to recognize a familiar scene through a lens of radiant colors, strong lines and fluid motion.. The hope is to revive a brief memory of joy and sense of reverence for everyday scenery.

“I have always leaned towards the rigid - lists, numbers, and spreadsheets.  Everything in it's place and organized.  Then one day I took a glass class and I WAS HOOKED.  I realized that I could be both: a stained glass artist and a technician.  I create what my husband calls house jewelry, via both small and big, art and crafts.  Crafts are easy and fun, smaller ornaments, whimsical items to make you smile.  Art is bigger, meaningful, and invokes emotion.  These are my signature pieces: a 3ft by 5ft wave, a glowering dragon, a take on feelings of isolation in the form of a crying woman.  Glass can be both big and small, fun and intense, and so can I.”
